1. OUR ORGANISATION
UK Customs Ltd is a provider of customs brokerage and logistics services, headquartered in Ashford, Kent, United Kingdom. Our business involves facilitating the movement of goods across international borders on behalf of our clients.
Our supply chains include, but are not limited to:
- Subcontracted haulage and freight forwarders.
- IT software and service providers.
- Professional services (legal, accounting).
- Office and facilities management suppliers.
2. OUR POLICY AND COMMITMENT
UK Customs Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We are further committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
We also commit to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
3. DUE DILIGENCE PROCESSES FOR RISK MANAGEMENT
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we:
- Risk Assess: We assess potential modern slavery risks in our business and supply chains, with a particular focus on high-risk areas such as temporary labour and subcontracted transport.
- Supplier Adherence: We seek to build long-term relationships with suppliers and make clear our expectations of business behaviour. We include specific anti-slavery obligations in our contracts with suppliers.
- Whistleblowing: We encourage the reporting of any concerns regarding modern slavery and provide a confidential whistleblowing channel for our employees and others working in our supply chain.
4. TRAINING AND AWARENESS
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains, we provide relevant training to our staff. This includes training on:
- How to identify the signs of modern slavery.
- How to report potential instances of modern slavery.
- The company’s policies and procedures on modern slavery.
5. OUR EFFECTIVENESS IN COMBATING MODERN SLAVERY
We will use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effective we have been in ensuring that modern slavery is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains:
- The completion of modern slavery risk assessments for all new significant suppliers.
- The percentage of staff completing mandatory modern slavery awareness training.
- The number and nature of concerns raised via our whistleblowing procedure and the actions taken.
6. APPROVAL AND REVIEW
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year.
